A favorite past-time of children and adults alike. Straw us manufactured by trimming sisal. The leaves are beaten and dyed, then used to make rugs, hats, handbags, and rope. Straw work remains an important part of the economy for the Bahamas tourist trade.

Bahamian Artist Pamela Johnson

Pam Johnson, primarily self-taught, began painting professionally in 1984. Judges in competitive and non-juried shows throughout New England have recognized her talent, and private and corporate collectors have purchased her work. Known for her bold and vivid colors in oil as well as watercolor, Pam creates a scene by harmoniously blending the pigments to form a unique style that captures the essence of her subject matter. Her objective is to share the part of her world, which so greatly influences her life.
