I
read to escape, the more detail the better...I'm
an information junkie. I also love a
story—whether TV show, movie, or book—that gets
in my veins and under my skin. Not many do. IN
THE DARK OF THE SUN is one of those rare books.
I lingered over the lovely and descriptive
passages, often going back to reread them for
the pictures and/or feelings they evoke. One
minute I was savoring this beauty and then the
next thing I knew, I was gripping my chair and
flinching at non-existent sounds. This is THAT
kind of book.
I
was enthralled, captivated, romanced, and
tortured. I felt sweaty, crawly—several times I
was sure a spider had dropped down into my
blouse—and scared nearly sleepless. I also
laughed harder than I have from any book in a
long time.
One of the most exceptional books I have ever
read. You took me there, you put me in the
heads of the characters, in their bodies, in the
places the story goes. I am an impatient
reader…when I go to the bookstore, I am always
picking up books, reading the backs and then
rifling through the pages. With this, I could
not bear to go on to the next page, and yet my
pulse was racing. As a guy, I am not much for
details—I want to get on with it—but I have to
admit, I found myself marveling at the most
minute things. I read it the first time going
full-throttle; then I had to read it again
because it was just so damn good.
